The Truth About “Easy” Daemonolatry

Lately I’ve been getting a wave of emails from people who want to practice Daemonolatry but feel stuck because they don’t have herbs, or tools, or privacy, or the ability to meditate, or any interest in energy work. The details vary, but the theme is always the same. They want to participate, but they want a version of the practice that requires almost nothing from them. And I understand why. Life is complicated. People deal with chronic illness, limited mobility, limited money, limited time, and limited emotional bandwidth. Some people genuinely can’t do certain things, and I’m not dismissing that reality.

But there’s a truth that needs to be said clearly. There is no easy mode in Daemonolatry. There is only the mode you build for yourself, and the effort you’re willing to put into it. Magick is participatory. It requires you. Not your tools, not your herbs, not a perfectly curated altar, not the ability to sit in silence for half an hour (though that can help considerably). Just you. And that’s the part people often try to skip.

When someone tells me they can’t practice because they don’t have supplies, I remind them that Daemonolatry was never a craft‑store religion. There are a lot of ways to practice without the physical things of magick. If you have your breath, your voice, your intention, and your willingness to show up, you already have the essentials. Offerings don’t have to be elaborate. A cup of water, a bowl of earth, a feather, or a candle (even an LED candle!). An “offering” can be a moment of gratitude, a written dedication, a promise you keep, or a simple act done in a Daemon’s name. Tools can amplify the work, but they don’t replace the practitioner.

When someone says they can’t meditate, what they usually mean is that they don’t like being alone with their thoughts. Meditation, while foundational, isn’t a requirement for a more devotional Daemonolatry practice anyway. However, being able to be present is a requirement and that’s what meditation practice helps with. Meditation is the first step in shadow work because you NEED to be able to sit with yourself and look within. But, there are many types of meditation. Presence can come from walking, gentle movement or stretching (think Tai Chi and Yoga), journaling, chanting, reading, prayer, or any activity where your mind is focused and engaged. If you can pay attention to something for more than a few moments, you can practice and you can learn magick.

When someone says they don’t want to do energy work, that’s where the conversation gets real. Energy work is the backbone of magick. But it doesn’t have to look like chakras or glowing orbs or anything New Age. If you’ve ever calmed yourself down, focused intensely on a task, or shifted your emotional state on purpose, you’ve already done energy work. It’s not exotic. It’s human. It’s a matter of learning how to focus your energy at will and put it toward the change you want.

The deeper issue is that people want results without the discomfort of learning the basics. They want connection without devotion, transformation without effort, and power without discipline. But Daemonolatry is reciprocal. You get out of it what you put into it. If you give nothing, you get nothing. If you give a little, you get a little. If you show up consistently, the practice responds in kind.

Instead of asking for the easiest possible path, the better question is, “What can I realistically commit to?” Because that’s where your practice actually lives. Maybe you can only manage a small weekly offering, or a short prayer in the morning, or a few minutes of grounding before bed. Maybe your devotional work happens during your commute or while you’re doing chores. Small doesn’t mean weak. Small means sustainable. And sustainable can lead to bigger things.

Remember that Daemonolatry isn’t about perfection. It’s about participation. You don’t need fancy tools, perfect meditation skills, or hours of free time. You need willingness, consistency, honesty, effort, and respect. If you can bring those things to the table, the Daemonic will meet you halfway. If you can’t, no amount of shortcuts will make up the difference.

I’m not here to shame anyone. I know life is messy, and I know not everyone has the same abilities or resources. But I am here to be honest. There is no easy way. There is only your way, and whether you choose to walk it. If you want a meaningful Daemonolatry practice, you have to participate in it, even if it’s small, imperfect, or messy. Show up. Do what you can. The rest grows from there.
